When our cruise ship excursion offerings for Ketchikan didn't have what we were looking for, we searched for an alternative and came across this Eagle One tour. We took a chance, booked directly, and it turned out to be our favorite Alaska excursion. Captain Jesse sent a van to pick up a group of us at our Ward Cove dock and 20 minutes later we were aboard his boat. The boat had a small restroom and both inside and outside seating. As we headed out, his first mate talked about the area and answered questions, while everyone kept on the lookout for whales. Initially we saw some eagles flying along the shoreline, and then a couple of humpback spouts. But the Captain took us out a little further when he spotted a group of Orca whales blowing. There might have been 15-20 whales swimming together - it was too many to count. The captain got us close enough for us to get great photo's of these awesome creatures, but still maintained a safe distance to give them space. I guess we had around an hour of view time of the Orcas. My 82 year old Mom was with us and loved it. If this is not on your cruise ship excursion list, book it direct. We were definitely not disappointed.
