We went on a tour with Adam and had a great time. He is very laid back but had an extensive knowledge of the area because he has lived here his whole life. If you are looking for 5 star restaurants this is not the tour for you, but if you want to try some good food in good company you should do this tour. P.s. We recommend some beer and Jell-O shots along the way, but obviously this is not necessary.

Was disappointed with the tour as a whole, I felt that we visited stores that I could of done on my own and when we went to the restaurants the owners expected us to purchase additional items from the menu. Despite the food being ok, I was disappointed going to college bars and would have preferred more historic locations.

We had only ever been on one previous food tour--in New Orleans--about two years ago, so we started the tour with high expectations. We began in Wythe's candy shop where we were given a goody bag of samples, but, based on what had happened in New Orleans, we were expecting to be hosted by a representative of the store. This did not happen. The Peanut Shop was even worse. We could have gone in there by ourselves and would have been treated exactly the same way. The people in the fudge shop were very friendly, but the samples they gave us they would have given to any passing stranger. The young woman in the tea and spices shop was equally friendly and did tell us a few things about the store; in addition, I received a small sample of tea and my wife was given an equally small sample of spices. The true food tour started at the next stop, where were served macaroni cheese. It was the second best macaroni and cheese I had eaten, after my mother's! Then we moved to the William and Mary area where, in quick succession, we were fed pizza, wings, and Reuben egg rolls. They were all excellent. At the final stop, we had wonderful French fries, which we could not finish, and two desserts. The chocolate ganache was especially good. Adam, our guide, was very friendly and guided us efficiently from place to place. There was plenty of food and the second half of the tour was much more like what I had expected, although I would have liked more interaction with the restaurant staff. It would really help if the restaurants would "buy in" more to the experience and realize that by giving a little more support to the venture they would be more likely to get future custom. We intend to return to all of the restaurants at some time during our next visits to Williamsburg.
