I cant say enough good things about Anchorage Downtown TourGroup. We arrived in Anchorage 2 days prior to the start of our tour with Holland America and we had some time to kill so we went to the visitor's center to see what we could do. An employee of the visitor center advised us to go to the Downtown TourGroup to schedule a tour. We walked to it as it's not far from the Visitor's center. Upon arrival we met Russ Reno, and let me tell you....he made a lasting impression. He is passionate about his work and Alaska. After talking with him for a while, we were ready to sell everything we own and move to Alaska! Anyways, we booked a tour to Portage Glacier with a native Alaskan that Russ recommended and yes, it was well worth the money. Our tour was for the next day and not realizing how long we had spent there, we were ready to go after finalizing our transaction, when we stepped outside it's as if the sky was falling! A torrential downpour was upon us and yes, we weren't prepared. No jackets, No umbrellas! Russ was kind enough to lend us some umbrellas and told us to just return them to the tour guide the next day. WAY NICE! We thanked him and went on our way. When we arrived at the Embassy Suites where we were staying, which is a fair distance away from downtown, we went to the hotel bar to have cocktails when we turn around Russ is there! The other couple we were traveling with left their credit card at the tour office and Russ remembered where we were staying and took it to us! He saved us a big headache! He's a HERO in my book! If we are ever in Anchorage again I will definitely be looking ADTG up for our touring needs as well as saying hello to our new friend, Russ! I recommend everyone looking to see the sights in Anchorage to schedule their tours with Russ, he won't steer you wrong and you will make a new friend!
