Beluga Point

The point is a definite must stop location as the views are spectacular! Beluga Point, a rocky outpost jutting into the waters of Turnagain Arm, is just south of Anchorage along the Seward Highway. It’s named for the white whales that are often spotted from this location as they make their way up and down the inlet. Beluga's are often seen between July and August.

Alaska's Turnagain Arm on the Seward Highway is among those voted as one of the country's most unforgettable, must see areas of Alaska. MANY HAVE SAID THAT IF YOU MISS VISITING SIGHTS ALONG THE TURNAGAIN ARM- - YOU HAVE MISSED ALASKA!

Portage Glacier

Portage Valley is a 14 mile isthmus that connects the Kenai Peninsula to mainland Alaska. Portage Glacier once extended the entire length of the valley. The glacial remnants seen today are Explorer, Middle, Byron, Burns, and Shakespeare glaciers. While still massive in size, these glaciers stand as smaller reminders of the immense ice sheets that once covered this landscape.

Great relatively easy day tour with light walking, great for when your legs are killing you. Our guide Matt was super informative and it was cool to hear all his stories of living in Alaska for as many years as he has. Since our group was small we got to check out the Mt Alyeska area as well as all the gorgeous views of the mountains and glaciers. Even the pizza at lunch was delicious! It was amazing getting so close to brown bears at the conservation center too. All in all I would call it a leisurely bus tour with great scenic views and photo opportunities.

MATTHEW hooked us up man! Seeing the wolves up so close and the beautiful views of Alaska was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and made us feel welcomed. We loved his enthusiasm and you can tell he really enjoy what he does.

Wonderful day trip along the Highway to top of Turnagain Arm. The day was spectacular, clear and sunny. Our guide and driver Matthew was informative and friendly. Matthew obviously loves his work and is passionate about his Alaskan home, the wildlife and the geology. The visits to Beluga Point, Alyska Resort area, Chugach National Forest area, the Conservation Center and all the photo stops were amazing. Most enjoyable.
