This zip line adventure was so awesome!! So happy we decided to do this & get over that initial nervous feeling! Look for a Groupon or Living Social deal & save a few bucks.
Our zip line adventure (which lasted about 2 hours) was scheduled for 10:00 (arrive about 30 minutes early), & everything went as scheduled. We had 2 zip line "guides" for our group of 12. Both guides were great in getting each zip line participant prepared for the zips. They were also quite informative about all of the animals at the park. We felt safe every step of the way. Before starting the course, the guides get everyone harnessed up. Then the guides drive the group via Unimog over to the 1st tower. The 1st tower will require going up several flights of stairs to get to the top. As recommended by the company, wear comfortable closed-toe shoes. Then each person will get their turn to zip the 5 lines. Of course it's natural to have that initial nervous feeling, but after the 1st zip, that feeling was virtually gone. The course includes 5 towers, and the final zip has 3 lines so you can race your partner or small group if you choose. The course is just as they advertise, as you are indeed zipping over large predators including lions & tigers & bears, OH MY!! :) And that initial free fall that you might feel from other zip lines (where the lines aren't as tight), there really isn't any of that on this course. The lines are tight, so you just glide across. In case you're thirsty on the course, there are 2 towers which have water.
Participants are not allowed to have anything in their pockets (including cameras, phones, wallets, keys, etc). They lock up any personal belongings as you are getting harnessed up. We felt safe leaving my purse & hubby's wallet/keys. Wear sunscreen, particularly if you plan to visit the Out of Africa park after the zip line.
Just before reaching the 4th tower, a photographer takes pictures of each zip line participant that you can purchase at the gift shop afterwards. Our only complaint was that they didn't have a cheaper package deal. $50 for the CD of pictures seemed a little steep. We just bought 2 5x7's for $30 so we had something to remember our zip line fun.
