Each tour is lead by an experienced Navajo guide, who is certified by the Navajo Nation Parks & Recreation Dept. and National Park Service. Each and everyone of our guides was born and raised in this Canyon De Chelly area, allowing them to gain a vast knowledge of its history to share with all our guests who visit this place we call home. As well as learning about the canyon's rich history, rock art sites and other archeological sites, you will hear stories and tales of life in the canyon and get a chance (time permitted and seasonal option) to visit our guide's families who still weave, farm, ranch, and continue to live a traditional Navajo lifestyle in this rural part of the southwest. This was so worthwhile! We had a mix of ages in our group and we all were fascinated with the history, petroglyphs, ruins, and amazing bluffs, cliffs, and flora/fauna. We started in a covered vehicle but were switched to open vehicle. Be prepared to get dusty and bounced around. Navajo history was consistent with my prior knowledge of the culture. Very friendly guide. Responsive to our questions prior to tour, too.

This is a tour you must not miss. Our guide was Leander, and I highly recommend him as your guide, though you can't go wrong with the other great Beauty Way guides that are very knowledgeable and will give you a fantastic trip, something to remember and treasure. Leander put a great deal of his own personal experience and cultural knowledge into the tour. My wife and I took a private tour (the group tours are top notch, as well), and both of us have to say this was one of the most moving days we have experienced in worldwide travels. After this tour, you will be refreshed, and, yes, wiser. Again: DO NOT MISS THIS!
