our guide Natalie was extremely knowledgeable, and the easy walk through the rainforest was great. Unfortunately the bears weren't there, but the salmon spawning was exciting. The totems and cabins were beautifully carved, much better than I anticipated, all in all a very satisfactory tour.

My wife and I took the 3 hour Rainforest Walk and Totem Park tour while visiting Ketchikan on a cruise. We've been to Ketchikan before and did a Misty Fjords seaplane tour the last time -- that was an awesome tour, but we wanted to do something different this time. I booked the tour in advance directly with Wild Wolf Tours; I had some initial questions and Tracy was very responsive. I saw some of the great reviews about Tracy before booking the tour, and I think we might have enjoyed it more if she was our guide. Our tour guide Colin met us right at the pier. There were eight passengers in our group. Colin wasn't very personable or engaging -- as we drove to the rainforest, when Colin narrated it sounded very rehearsed and robotic, and for much of the drive he didn't say anything. The rainforest walk was beautiful, and we had stops for photos where Colin took our pictures. Most of the walk was flat, but there were some fairly steep inclines, so this isn't for people who have mobility issues or aren't in decent shape. I didn't check the time, but it seemed like the walk was shorter than the advertised 45 minutes. After the walk Colin offered us water and tasty smoked salmon dip and crackers and showed us some handmade goods. Colin mentioned that his aunt owns the tour company. The next stop was the Potlatch Totem Park, which is right next to Totem Bight Park but not affiliated with it. Colin seemed a bit more comfortable here, and told us some entertaining stories about the totems and various community houses. Before leaving we had an obligatory 15-minute stop in the gift shop, where Colin served us tasty honey almond cookies. The gift shop had an interesting gun museum, but even so most people were outside at the bus and ready to leave before the 15 minutes was up. After the totem park visit, we returned to the town, Colin gave us the choice of getting dropped off at the ship or at Creek Street. My wife and I wanted to grab lunch, and Colin said there were more options near the ship, so we got off there, and everyone else went on to Creek Street (we walked there after lunch). Colin recommended Annabelle's for lunch, so we went there -- it was good, but nothing special. We enjoyed the tour overall, but I think we would have enjoyed it more with a different tour guide. I still recommend the tour, and it's more interesting than some of the options you might book through your ship, especially if you've been to Ketchikan before.

We visited the Rainforest in late August. We broke into small groups of 13 for our walk through the rainforest with Clara, from Maine, as our guide. Clara was very knowledgable and enthusiastic. Clearly, we were fortunate to have her as our guide. We the various flora of the rainforest, bears, eagles, salmon and a heron. The rainforest tour ended at an old sawmill where Kevin, a local craftsman, was carving a totem pole. Very interesting. Also on the property were many totem poles and a blacksmith who made, among other things, the tools used to carve the totem poles.
