The trip was enjoyable and informative. We especially liked learning about the terrain, geology, and vegetation of the Sonoran Desert. Our short walk around the nature trail at Superstition Mountain Park packed in a lot of information about the incredible Sonoran plants. I think we should have done this tour before going on our own to the Desert Botanical Gardens. Canyon Lake is spectacular and the boat cruise very pleasant. The captain provided a lot of relevant information, but did not talk non-stop which unfortunately some boat guides do. At times they played some appropriate music as a background. You probably need a windbreaker or jacket if you want to sit outside.
Our tour guide, Kim, was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and helpful. She also told us a lot about the history of how Arizona was settled and eventually became a state.
The lunch stopover at Tortilla Flat was a bit hectic because it was extremely crowded, both at the restaurant and on the patio altho the burgers were good once we got them! There is very little to see or do at Tortilla Flat aside from eating. We have never been to Goldfield Ghost Town, but we thought that perhaps it might have made a more interesting stopping point.
