Throughout the course of the Live Music Crawl, you’ll hear about Austin's live music history, get the latest scoop on the current music scene and see iconic venues and new clubs, all while getting an overview of the city. Our live music tours are led by local comedians, artists, performers, and music enthusiasts. You'll ride in style a Mercedes Sprinter van. Get out of downtown and see the real Austin. The duration of this tour is roughly three hours. During that time frame, you'll visit 3 (three) different venues and be back around 11pm. This tour simply rocks! If you enjoy fun people, live music, and learning about the city of Austin, this is the tour for you. Please check in with the Austin Detours tour guide in front of the concierge desk of the Hilton Austin Hotel, located at 500 E. 4th St.

Austin Detours was great! Sunny Fairly was our guide and he was so knowledgeable, friendly and an absolute hoot! He took us to three venues which included country, 70's and good old rock & roll! We could dance at all three and we had plenty of time to enjoy each venue. I couldn't recommend this service higher!

On a Saturday night we took this tour to 3 venues - the Saxon Pub which had the base up so high any lyrics were totally unintelligable. I plugged my ears but the sounds reverberated my body so we went out to an area for smokers and waited. I couldn't even call it music. Next was the White Horse Saloon - Tacky and smelly but if you wanted to dance OK We sat at a table but the view of the dance floor was blocked by people standing up. Last was an old blues club, the Skylark Lounge, where a 87 (or 89) yr old woman came out to sing a few songs. This experience was not worth the $55 cost and we bought our own drinks of course. We wished we had ordered an Uber and left after the first experience, Our driver was very chattie and nice but the"clubs" must have been chosen because they had a cheap cover charge. The photo of the Continental club is false advertising. My advise - go to the Continental ( or other clubs) yourself.

Hi Jean, Thanks for writing this review. We appreciate any and all feedback. I think if you'd ask any local in Austin you'd get the same answer - The White Horse, Saxon Pub, and Skylark are three of our greatest clubs. At Skylark, you are referring to Miss Lavelle White. You are correct, she is 88 years old and has been rocking it for over 60 years. She has been all over the US and has played with Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin and many more of the "greats." She was voted Houston’s Blues Artist Of The Year, has been nominated several times for a Blues Music Award, and in 2006 was inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame. Everyone has a different taste in music and so this tour is not for everyone. From our perspective, however, we did bring you to top notch shows at three of the best clubs in town. These places ONLY attract serious artists...not just anyone can get into Saxon, White Horse or Skylark. We certainly didn't take you there because they are cheap. The photo of the Continental Club on our brochures is there because we do go there on this tour, but we seek out the best shows of each night so it's not a stop we make every time. I appreciate your taking our tour and posting this review. I do wish, however, you would have contacted our office to provide this feedback. This tour proved to be the perfect way for a music lover traveling alone to experience Austin's eclectic music scene. Our guide Steven was fantastic (and very funny) and he took us to three amazing venues -- the Elephant Club (jazz), the White Horse Saloon (honky tonk) and the Skylark Lounge (blues, R'nB). I definitely want to return to Austin and will take advantage of this company to experience more of what this wonderful destination has to offer.
