On our first trip to wine country, we were overwhelmed by all the vineyards to visit. Since we love biking and wanted to see Sonoma, we booked the full day group tour, but my husband and I were the only people. Our guide, Emily, was very knowledgable. She took us to a vineyard and explained the winemaking process and was not just reading off a script. We loved that the tour took us to one of the oldest in Sonoma, Buena Vista Winery, as well as o a small independent winemaker, located in a warehouse, The Tin Barn. This was one hidden gem and we even ended up joining the club. Both vineyards had terrific wine but the experiences were a nice juxtaposition. After 2 vineyard visits, Emily asked if we wanted to visit a vineyard or somewhere else. The olive oil shops were close, so we went to Vella Cheese, another hidden gem of Sonoma.
