Our guide, Shoyo, was great despite the weather not cooperating at all. He was very knowledgeable, had a good sense of humor, and was extremely helpful throughout the day. It got cloudy, cold, and rainy just before sunset, so we didn’t get to see the sunset and star gazing was cut short as well. We still enjoyed what time we had as it was just bad luck.

Excellent tour! Stefan was a fantastic guide. He was very well prepared and had the entire time well planned for the best moment and places to see the sunset and the stars on Mauna Kea. He and Jin, our driver, were very attentive to all of our needs. The road up is bumpy but they were careful to take it slow. They had jackets to keep us warm, a delicious sandwich for dinner and hot tea. Truly a unique experience that is not to be missed. The change in terrain and the view of the sun setting from the summit is incredible.

This was a truly amazing experience. The views were increadible. We saw the sunset above the clouds, a blood moon rise, and we were given a tour of the stars and the Milky Way from our wonderful guides. They also took amazing photos. This experience is a must do for those traveling to the big island!
