So we did the whole enchilada, we did all of the bus tours, we did Alcatraz and we did the night tour, and we basically enjoyed all of it, with a special feature at the night tour, but more about that later.
We had booked the tickets from home and when we got there we immediately got the tickets exchanged for real tickets. I honestly found them somewhat inflexible regarding the Alcatraz tour (we wanted to go there the second day in the morning, they had booked us for the first day during lunch), but maybe that is just a fact when you want to visit Alcatraz in August.
Bus tours: We did all of them and we really enjoyed them. For some reason we did the first part (Fishermans Wharf to Union Square) three times and we noticed that each time the travelogue was different, which was very nice. The stories were funny, interesting, relatable and the folks presenting them really seemed to care, they did not just reeled of the stories, they tried to make them interesting and they succeeded.
The Sausalito Tour was also nice, but be aware that the bus has no glass in the windows, so it was very chilly.
But, and now we come to the best part: Dress warmly and under no circumstances miss the night tour. And if you can, take the tour with Big Bus Blake. That guy is amazing. He is funny, he is interesting, he is positive and he has a great singing voice. How do I know? Because every now and then he breaks into songs and makes great parodies of well-known songs. Really enjoyed my night out with Big Bus Blake.
