This was an amazing bus ride. The bus driver was amazing. I really loved Angie, Eddie and especially Douglas. Douglas was so very animated in his tour. I will always remember how entertaining he was. I loved his puka bead necklace that he wears under his shirt. He is truly an original and the Big Bus company should be proud to have him in their employee!!!!
I really enjoyed this tour. Over the years I've seen many movies and tv shows that have Alcatraz in them. I like that you can walk around by yourself or go with a guide. You can also do an audio tour at no extra cost. The views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge are spectacular. Another thing off my bucket list.
The Alcatraz trip was fabulous and a must see should you visit San Francisco. Earphones are provided for a self-guided tour. The tour is quite fascinating.
The Big Bus Sightseeing Tour was terrible. Jacob was horrible on the night tour. He told a host of stupid jokes such as warning computer users to be careful when searching for in and out burger information entering just the words in and out might get you something else. Really? This does not demonstrate pride in showing off your city, but one's incompetence about the city in whcih they have been hired to share and show off. It only got worse after the 45 minute delay from the scheduled departure because of a broken down bus. Bianca, tour guide during the day time, was equally as incompetent. She talked about the use of hella as a common slang used in the city---yet after 4 days, I never heard anyone use it except her. The opportunity to get off and on the bus at highlights was the only exciting part of the tour. The trip to Saulsilito was exciting and adventurous with fun shopping just across the bay. Fort Mason tour and Sausilito were highlights of my stay. There are other quality tours that focus on the history and highlights of the city. The Big Bus Sightseeing was a hop off and on service, but it failed as a sightseeing tour. The cost of the combo ticket was not worth what we got in return.
The other item that was terrible about this company was you had to find a way to Pier 33 to exchange your vouchures for a boarding pass. That was inconvenient and we learned that lines were long once we arrived at their headquarters.
