It was a lot of fun, and our guide, Awana, was great! The only thing we would change would be to see one or two fewer locations in exchange for spending a little more time at the other places. For example, the ad said we would stop at a Kona Coffee farm "to learn about the harvesting and milling process while sampling Kona Coffee and Tea." Didn't happen. We stopped and had free coffee samples, but all we saw was the gift shop. Nobody from the farm spoke with us, and we didn't actually see any other part of the farm. I would gladly have traded the visit to the Punalu'u bakery (another gift shop only visit) and the Rainbow falls visit, in order to actually SEE the coffee farm. The bakery seemed pointless, and the Rainbow falls are nothing compared to Akaka falls that we got to see later in the tour. The Akaka falls and the Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park were our favorite stops. Awana was professional, engaging, knowledgeable, and did a great job! He even helped us (those that asked) with proper pronunciation of the place names, which I feel is one way to show proper respect to the Hawaiian culture and this amazing ecosystem.
