Was a HUGE disappointment! We were really looking forward to this trip as the pictures looked amazing, however it was a waste of a time, gas, money and bug spray!! We booked on the sunset and bioluminescence kayak trip. Started off well and ok we saw nothing in terms of wildlife other than some manatee noses which luckily we knew what to look out for as having swam with them before .... something the guide didn’t share with the group. Hey ho, nature is nature and you can’t expect to see everything each time. However, the second part I couldn’t wait to be over. I call it the second part as we had to get out of our kayaks and stand around for over 30 minutes, wet from the first half and getting bitten to pieces by bugs. Amenities, well the toilet, was disgusting and water was not even offered. The reason for this long wait was so we could wait for another group to join us, members of which were late!! When we finally did get back into the water, saw nothing and suffered a bad case of dejavu as we appeared to complete the same path with the same commentary but in the dark!!! Couldn’t hear a thing the guide was saying as he was so far ahead of the group and counting the boats to ensure everyone was accounted for our kayak appeared to have been given the same number as another so we were not even part of the crew! Having read the other positive reviews, I assume this was just a bad trip, however I would not recommend as was a very expensive seat on a kayak!

Thank you for your review. This experience is not typical of our tours. Our Sunset and Bioluminescence Tour especially is a guest favorite. Unfortunately, the toilets that are at the Wildlife Refuge are not maintained by us. We do recommend in our confirmation e-mails that guests stop to use the bathroom on the way there. We do also recommend that guests bring their own water. We don't provide disposable water bottles as we try to be as eco-friendly as possible. Please reach out to our office through e-mail or phone so that we can see what night you went and which guide you had and we can make sure to address and fix the other issues that you mentioned.

I booked this tour on a whim for my husbands birthday, even though neither of us had ever kayaked. Our guide Steve was amazingly patient, helpful and reassuring as we slowly made the transition from kayaking in circles to an eventual semi-forward motion. He never got frustrated with us and remained positive and helpful. It was much cooler than normal, and we were mainly focusing on learning the basics of how to kayak so we didn't see very many of the comb jellies. Even so, we had a great time being on the water at night and learned how to kayak. We will definitely be back in the warmer months! A change of clothes is recommended, both my husband and I got pretty soaked from the thighs down (something I'm sure was directly related to our inexperience).

We had a wonderful time kayaking and looking for the bioluminescent comb jellies. Our guide, Matt, was knowledgeable and took great care of us. We had a calm, albeit chilly evening, and we were able to see quite a few jellies despite a fairly full moon. Thank you!
