Great variety of delicious food. You won't leave hungry! Very informative and personable guide, Caleb. Great way to experience a neighborhood in a new city. Very well paced trip.

We planned our entire day in Boston around this food tour (we were only in Boston for a day), just for it to be canceled 30 minutes before the departure time due to the guide being sick. While I fully understand canceling the tour for this reason, informing us so late in the day (tour was at 3 pm) caused us to not be able to enjoy any other activities in Boston. Really disappointing.

I was booked on this tour through a surprise travel agency. When I found out I was going to Boston, I immediately contacted my BFF since 5th grade; he lives in the area and mentioned that he would like to join me on the tour if possible. I contacted my travel company for their assistance on getting him added. I also called the number on the ticket myself. Several times. Either no one would answer and I couldn’t leave a voicemail, or the number was busy. The website showed one extra spot, but for whatever reason, we couldn’t book it online. Anyway, we both showed up, 15 minutes early as the ticket suggested. We just figured we would try it and see what would happen, or maybe there was a cancellation. At 5 till 11 (tour time of 11:01), someone walks up and asks if we were there for a food tour. Poor kid. Turns out, Caleb is new (he's only been doing this about a month) and he was expecting a group of five. More people showed up. Lots more. Turns out, the guide I was supposed to have didn’t show up to work that day. Several phone calls ensued. Caleb had to figure out what was going on, how to handle it, accommodate 17 people and make calls to the restaurants to give them a heads up. He got the list of names for the folks with tickets… and had everyone’s name but mine. I showed him my ticket; he just shook his head and told us not to worry about it since we were the first ones there… and had waited a while before the craziness even started. It was a fiasco. He was nervous and overwhelmed, but did an OK job given the circumstances. We met a lovely couple at our first stop; we were seated at a table with them and had time to visit and get to know them a little. Great way to start the tour that began late because of the confusion on the front end. The ravioli and pizza at Ben Cotto was really good, but the manager was rude; I guess because our group was so big. Not our fault, lady. At Salumeria, I went inside and took a couple pictures; they were rude. Peaches at Qs Nuts was very hospitable and accommodating. The pastrami sandwiches were so small, they seemed like a very chintzy offering. The Lobster Roll at Red's Best was wonderful and such a welcome bite... those things are expensive, y'all! We waited outside at Modern Pastry for about 40 minutes while Caleb waited in in line. Other food tours I've been on had stuff like this ready for our group (or with a very short wait). I understand it's a popular place, but they could them in a box and have them ready for a situation like this. It was the end of the tour and some folks just bailed. I felt sorry for Caleb the whole time, but especially at this point... no tip from that group (which was HIS group to begin with). But... Holy Cannoli, that ricotta cream filling was delicious!
