I have been on food tours in many cities in North America, all of which were fabulous, except for this one. The food portions are insidiously small, and most of the time we were standing around on the street to eat them. At the end of the tour, I was still hungry. I only weigh 110 pounds, so I'm hardly a big eater. We had 4 half-nut pieces, a small portion of a lobster roll, a tablespoon of baked beans and a small slice of pizza. If you want the craft beer, you will pay for it yourself. We walked several blocks through a desolate, run-down neighborhood that did not feel safe. Our guide, Sean, knew his history well, but he is so soft-spoken, it was difficult to hear him at times. We arrived at a pizza restaurant but couldn't go in because Sean said they are rude to customers. Then we walked four blocks (while the pizza was getting cold) to a barren concrete plaza, where we stood to eat. The clam chowder was tasty enough, but the accompanying cornbread tasted like it came straight from the grocery store. There were no "secrets" or "secret dish." For the $115 plus gratuity I paid for this, I could have eaten at a fine restaurant and been served well, not just a few scraps. I would not recommend this tour to anyone. My advice: Eat a meal before coming on the tour.

Thank you for sharing your comments, Pamela. Our team appreciates you taking the time to let us know about your experience. Our goal has always been to provide a memorable and satisfying experience for all our guests, and it's disappointing that we fell short in your case.
Firstly, we understand your concerns about the cost relative to what was offered during the tour. We strive to offer a balance between the cost of the tour and the quality and variety of the food and experiences provided. Our tours are carefully curated to ensure ample tastings throughout, without leaving guests feeling overly full. While our selections usually garner rave reviews, we're saddened that you did not find the right value with our offerings this time. We hope you discovered some new flavors and dishes that intrigued you despite the concern you mentioned.
We equally recognize that audibility can be challenging in crowded and noisy environments. While Sean is indeed knowledgeable about Boston's history, he, along with our other guides, are trained to speak audibly and clearly - even in bustling neighborhoods like North End. Given the small group setting of our tours, our guides don't use microphones to maintain an intimate and immersive experience. The safety and comfort of our guests are also of utmost importance to us, and we carefully select routes and stops based on their historical significance and culinary appeal.
Having said these, it's important to us that every guest leaves our tours satisfied, and our team takes your comments positively. We'll review your feedback internally to ensure we continue to improve and deliver exceptional experiences for all our guests.
Thank you again for your insights, and we hope to welcome you on another Secret Food Tour in one of our 60+ cities worldwide. If you’d like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to contact us at
