Was looking forward to seeing manatees and other shore birds. The tour guide was very nice; he was patient loading everyone onto the kayaks. The glass bottom kayaks are pretty scratched up so between that and the murky water, it was hard to see anything below the surface. We had to steer around the snorkelers, who had a much better view of the manatees, so if that's your intent, do the snorkeling instead of the kayaks. Also, I didn't realize that going solo would slow me down; I felt like I was racing to keep up with the group the whole time and wasn't able to hear the guide or enjoy any of the wildlife. The beach we visited to swim was very crowded (and we had to paddle around a lot of other boats on the way there & back).

I have never been to this part of Florida and was quite nervous about this activity because I have a 13 year old and a 6 year old. However, it was a great time! Even though it isn’t manatee season we saw many! Several swam right under our kayaks and we saw several jump out of the water many times! James was our tour guide and he was great. He was patient and very informative on the area and the wildlife.
