Charleston City Market

Our Barn is located just off of the Charleston City Market. You will meet your certified tour guide here and then you will depart on your hour long horse or mule drawn carriage tour. The carriage will go through the City gate at the market where the tour guide is assigned a tour route. You will see about 30 blocks of the historic district which will include beautiful architecture, churches, buildings, gardens and more. The tour returns to the Big Red Barn.

This review is not aimed at this company but rather the process! Every carriage is subjected to getting a number but really the city should do itself a favor and get rid of that number 5 ball. Twice I have got this only to go on a tour that takes you nowhere near the famous sights and instead you get to see the jail with tarps over it the housing project and the college! No more tours for me until I can be confident I won’t get that route. I visited here for a month with many out of town guests but avoided this attraction after this experience

This ride stated we would see the historical sites of Charleston. They even listed which ones we would see-yet we never saw one of them! Went through neighborhoods and saw houses. That’s it. Our tour guide said the City regulates how many carriages can be in an area of the city; well, we must have gotten the unlucky carriage as we didn’t see one advertised site: Rainbow Row Battery and White Point Gardens Joe Riley Waterfront Park Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon Didn’t see one of those things. It was a nice ride, but was not what we were expecting nor what was advertised to us. We had to do our own walking tour after just to see all that the sites we should have seen on the carriage ride.
