Charleston City Market

Our Barn is located just off of the Charleston City Market. You will meet your certified tour guide here and then you will depart on your hour long horse or mule drawn carriage tour. The carriage will go through the City gate at the market where the tour guide is assigned a tour route. You will see about 30 blocks of the historic district which will include beautiful architecture, churches, buildings, gardens and more. The tour returns to the Big Red Barn.

The carriage driver was very knowledgeable and friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Charleston especially if for the first time. Fare was very reasonable.

I generally have a love-hate relationship with these sort of things. I worry about the treatment of the animals. But, I had some time to kill on a cool Charleston day, so after a bit of research on the various companies this one seemed very reputable, and had a lot of info on animal welfare on their site. I was able to walk in and get right on a tour on a Monday afternoon. The carriage was only about half full, so lots of space. The tour was lovely, and the horses seemed well cared for. Jenny was very informative, and the history of the residential areas we drove through was fascinating. I enjoyed it.

Informative historical tour with a funny guide who shared many facts and stories about Charleston. Staff at the big red barn were very friendly and let us pet all of the beautiful horses.
