Charleston City Market

Our Barn is located just off of the Charleston City Market. You will meet your certified tour guide here and then you will depart on your hour long horse or mule drawn carriage tour. The carriage will go through the City gate at the market where the tour guide is assigned a tour route. You will see about 30 blocks of the historic district which will include beautiful architecture, churches, buildings, gardens and more. The tour returns to the Big Red Barn.

We took a 10:30 tour. While we enjoyed the tour guide and Buddy the horse, we were disappointed in the route. We saw very few sites the city is known for. We also spent as much time sitting as riding. We were told the city determines the trip route. How disappointing.

Just ok. Really didn't see much of the city. A lot of the talk was not interesting. A small portion was good.

Best way to really see Charleston while learning the history of the city. We had Jenny as our guide with thirty years of experience in providing this tour. The history that she provides is extremely accurate. Her tour incorporates wit and great storytelling. I was impressed how she also took time to ensure that children on the tour could relate to what she was telling about the history by providing them current day examples. While Martha Lou clearly does not like box trucks, as we learned, there was no question of Jenny's ability to handle any situation. She goes above and beyond knowing the history while also providing interesting extra facts that she takes time to research herself. I would highly recommend taking a tour with Jenny, next time I am back in Charleston, I would like to ride with her again for another tour. Thank you Jenny for an amazing time.
