Experience the thrill of riding in one of Alaska's oldest modes of transportation! The dogsled! Towns, villages and lifestyles were created using the traditional style dogs that you will meet while on your tour. Learn of the rich history of Chatanika from one of our guides while travelling through a beautiful boreal forest.
We only have 2 tour slots a day to give each group ample time. This is a small family run business and you will be greeted and guided by an owner the entire time here. We do accomidate families/large groups & single travelers! For group size requests over 6 guests please contact Howling Bay Kennel direct through their website.
Our weight limit per guest is 250lbs clothed. If you exceed the weight limit, but meet the physical requirements and can comfortably participate, we may be able to accomidate you as a single rider for a double booking fee. The dogs were friendly and the sled ride was fun. This was a great experience while visiting Alaska.

We had a very bad experience with last minute cancellations. Unfortunately we were told the day of that the weather was too warm. Dog sledding was one of the activities that my family was looking forward to doing. We ended up booking through a different agency the same day. I understand that the cancellation is due to the wellbeing of the animals but if there was projected warm weather, everyone who books should be notified a day or two in advance and not the day of so we can rearrange our schedules.

Greetings, It is unfortunate that you were not able to join us due to a weather cancelation, you were refunded in full. The weather was unseasonably warm, near 37F. Communication was attempted via message to reschedule days prior to tour time & phone communication was attempted too, well before your afternoon tour time on that day. I try to keep communication open in case of situations like this, so a reschedule is possible with me or another company if we cannot provide the service. We spoke multiple times and it is good that you got to experience dogsledding during your trip here!
