My girlfriend and I did this tour over the past weekend. It was amazing being knee deep in water, walking towards an alligator hole (expect to get a little dirty). Although the alligator wasn't there, the activity itself, the views, and the other wildlife were spectacular. I thought it was going to be a little scary (at least to an extent), but the guide made use feel at ease the entire time. We then went on a salt water kayak, topped off by watching the sunset while on the water. The guide was great, fun with a good sense of humor and very knowledgeable about the environment and wildlife. We saw various alligators elsewhere, snakes (4 different species-maybe more), crocodiles, tons of birds (any bird lover would be in heaven), sharks, fish, and manatees. (Although, you always take a chance in what you will or will not see during these adventures). Would definitely recommend this trip for someone who wants a unique experience of the everglades, is adventurous, and who is wanting to do more than ride in an airboat.
On a side note, you are in the van between adventures (in case you want to bring changes of clothes/shoes as yours will be wet/dirty), there is a cooler for you, and you may stop by a store at one point in case you want to bring money.
