I would highly recommend Garl’s Coastal Kayaking Adventure in the Everglades. Garl was a wonderful guide and we especially enjoyed hearing about his experiences making wildlife films – a very different perspective. Our group was only eight people which provided the opportunity for lots of questions. Unfortunately, due to high winds, we were not able to go kayaking in the salt water, so Garl took us to another alligator dome. Despite limited wildlife viewing due to the hot and sunny day, we did enjoy our paddle through the mangrove where we spotted an alligator. Slogging through the Everglades thigh deep in the river provides a unique perspective which is very different than an airboat or a tram. Very different feeling when you are on foot next to a large gator! If you appreciate getting up close to nature and doing a little work, you will get a lot out of this tour.
Tips: Make sure to wear quick drying pants and have a hat to shield you from the sun! Also log in the day before your tour to rent shoes and get a cell phone case if you don’t have one already. Also you can by your pass to the Everglades online in advance.
