This was a great tour and what an experience of the Everglades. Kayaking and walking and at one with nature. I was apprehensive about the thought of getting so close to the alligators and crocs but in reality I was totally relaxed. Garl is a great guide. We did a trudge on foot through mud and water to a 'dome' where the aligators hangout. Slightly tough and slippery underfoot adding to the experience. Aligators up close and personal.. and lovely light under the cover of the trees. Next driving deeper into the Everglades national park and kayaking through fresh water mangrove area bumping noses with the aligators. This was great. And an amazing landscape. Top tip if you're a newbie to kayaking i think would be gloves. Was ok without but a bit of cushioning would be handy. Anyway lots more to experience but try for yourself you won't be disappointed We booked this last minute. Which was no problem at all and garl supplied full bug suit and appropriate foot wear so dont worry if you're traveling light. Sunglasses are your only essential item. Oh and bring food and water. A few places to fill bottles up en route. This was the end of dry season and the first hatch of mosquitos. Bug suits were a godsend. Also don't miss the night hike part :) this time on a boardwalk so easy... Don't miss garls pictures either.... So much to tell ;)

We were taken out by Garl himself. He couldn't have been more knowledgeable, kind and so interesting! So glad we did the full day. There was only one other couple with us so that was nice, as were they. It really opens your eyes up to how beautiful the Everglades are! Garl really is the only person to go out there with! Loved it!

As most reviewers have mentioned, this is a fantastic full day of activities. Erin was an excellent guide who really went out of her way to make sure the trip was as good as it could be. The fun thing about this trip is that several of the activities were things that you simply would not be able to do easily without a guide. And with a guide it was a safe, fun and rewarding experience. Some details of the trip: You do get wet, and you do get into areas where there could be mosquitoes. That said, they provided full coverage bug shirts, and because of a slight breeze, and I suspect because until recently it had been fairly dry, I did not need to use the hood and I was not bothered by mosquitoes. If you are careful you can stay out of the deep water and keep around knee deep, at least in the conditions we were in. I brought my smaller camera and a dry bag, but I would have been comfortable bringing my DSLR and long lens. This would have been useful on the "dry" walk and in Florida Bay, but in the mangroves a long lens would not have been helpful. There was never a time when I was worried about getting my camera wet, as long as I was careful. The trip is not photography focused but there was plenty of opportunity to take photos. You do get close to gators, but Erin was careful both to keep us safe and keep from unduly disturbing them (disturbing them probably would not help keeping us safe). Overall this was absolutely a wonderful trip, so much so that we will certainly consider doing it again the next time we return: each trip will be totally unique because of weather and what animals are moving about.
