This is the best glacier and wildlife cruise. It is an 8 hour round trip to glaciers that reach the ocean a few bays over from Seward. They bring the ship through iceberg-filled water (small icebergs) close to several of the glaciers and stay long enough that you have a good chance of seeing ice falls. The trip there and back does not disappoint either with snowy mountains down to the ocean the entire way and many other glaciers. One location has the most amazing sea stacks. It is even more impressive than in the photos. The odds of seeing wildlife are quite good. We saw sea otters, sea lions, seals, porpoises, whales, killer whales, mountain goats, and lots and lots of birds. They will go to the known wildlife locations such as rocks popular with sea lions and bird colonies. The ships also communicate with each other on where they have seen wildlife and will go to it if it isn't too far out of the way. The crew (Scott, Talia and captain Laura) did a very good job of explaining the sights and went out of their way to interact with the passengers. The captain explained a lot over the intercom, which could be heard well except outside when the ship was moving. The ship is fast so there is breeze when outside. There is space both inside and out, and there is plenty of room since they do not fill the ship. You can stay inside if you want and see the sights through the big windows, but the view is better outside. The waves were enough that we got a ride when standing in the bow with the ship in motion on the open ocean. The rest of the ship moves much less. This will depend on the weather. The weather was mostly cloudy for us with on and off rain and only a few sunny intervals (but it was still a great trip). It is worth bringing layers. I had long pants and t-shirt, fleece, waterproof pants, waterproof jacket, and gloves. With all this I was able to stay outside for most of the trip.

Loved everything about this adventure but the most exciting was seeing the humpback whales and the glaciers

So I actually did two tours with Major Marine Tours this vacation. My first was the 8.5 hour and the second was 7 hour one. I'll start with the 8.5 hour first. First off it's great because it was a smaller boat (The Viewfinder). The boat was able to get into places that the bigger ships couldn't (great for bird watching and waterfall watching). The only downfall was lots of rocking so if you are trying to take video/photo you need your sea legs (or a stabilizer of some sort) And the captain was able to stop for any puffins/otters that sort. Saw a lot of rare birds. We saw sea lions, seals, porpoises, whales. The weather wasn't perfect but it didn't ruin the day at all. We were even lucky to see a group of humpbacks (15+) bubble net feeding. When the crew is excited about seeing something, you know it's special. I had so much fun I scheduled another tour a few days later. The crew was awesome. Just did a fantastic job. The second tour was the 7.5 hour tour. Major differences were the size of the boat (Spirit of Matushka). This boat was a lot bigger (nice cozy inside area). Much less rocking. Great front area of the boat for watching. We went to different glaciers but saw a lot of the same wildlife (This trip we saw Killer Whales and a Bear though!). The captain was great, right amount of dad jokes and spotting animals. The weather was so perfect I pretty much sat outside the whole day just taking it all in. I have never been let down by Major Marine Tours. The crews are always great. Easy to check in. Easy to get everything figured out. Will always come back
