Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone
Your expert guide will meet you at the Pavilion next to the Upper Falls Parking Area at 8AM. This is also the staring point for Uncle Tom's Trail. The hike is a 6-mile loop. The hike is along the Canyon Rim, through the forest out to Ribbon Lake, and then past a geyser basin, Clear Lake, and the Wapiti Meadows with big views of the Hayden Valley. If you hike one trail in Yellowstone this is it!

Great hike. Our guide was super nice and gave great detail along the way. It was worth the money to hear the history of the canyon.

It was great to get away from the crowds and hike across the Lamar Valley. Most of the time we were following game tracks as Josh led us past bison herds and along the River for lunch. It was a fun day. There were only four of us on the hike, apart from Josh, and all in our 60's (or so I gathered) and the level of difficulty was appropriate for us. In addition to bison we saw pronghorns, sand hill cranes, mergansers, a bald eagle, a hawk, and wolves (in the distance). All of the gear recommended on the website was appropriate for the hike, but one thing Josh mentioned was not on their list - long pants. Since much of the time was spent walking through low scrub on narrow paths it was important to wear long pants to protect us from being scratched by the low branches. I had long pants and was glad of it. As far as Covid is concerned, Josh was careful to maintain separation distance during the hike and wear a mask when speaking to the group. Since we each had our own gear we could personally confirm that it was sanitized.

We so thoroughly enjoyed the hike through the Lamar Valley with Josh and Emily Jo. They led us along animal trails - vs using the standard human trails - a real delight that we could not have accomplished on our own. We saw several different wolf groups with a close but plenty far enough away encounter while they were calling to each - what a memory. Also saw pronghorn, the buffalo herds, plus saw an up-close lone buffalo who was resting on the trail. Their narrative on the trees, geology, history and animal life filled the entire hike with discovery in an easily accessible way. What a beautiful experience in every way. Book this hike with Josh and Emily Jo!
