If you are traveling on I-80 near Kearney, Nebraska I recommend you make time for a tour of the Great Platte River Road Archway Museum. It is in a spectacular building that actually straddles I-80. The displays and recorded tour provide a great insight into the struggles that Immigrants made on their journey west out of the dismal City experience of the American East. Great for kids of all ages. Nice clean restrooms, too. Allow an hour to do the tour and enjoy the gift shop and experience. Check online for hours of operation.

This was a great time for my family. Even my son who is not normally into this type of activity remained interested & engaged through whole thing.

What a surprise! We really didn't know what to expect, but this is a first class experience. A mountain man met us at the entrance to set the stage of the history of the Platte River Valley. Up the escalator to take a walk through time. Hand held audio devices help explain each exhibit are excellent. Everything was well done. Glad we stopped.
