Just got back from Maui yesterday! We stayed in a condo at the Island Surf in Kihei, Maui. The Surf Shack is located on the first floor of the condo building. My teenage boys and I spent a ton of time at the Surf Shack talking to Dan. He was great and really gave us so much advice and useful information about the island. It was awesome to talk to a fellow Midwesterner! The boys had surf lessons with an instructor and Church--the surfing dog. They had a great time and really enjoyed it! Kylie took pictures and they were amazing -- will use them for our Christmas card this year. Cannot say enough great things about this place. They are honest and will not let you do anything you shouldn't do (such as paddle board at the wrong time of day). We also rented a surf board from the store. Great experience! Just a reminder to new people going to Maui--all water sports shut down by about 1:00 PM due to the change in the ocean and the trade winds. Get up early and go to the Surf Shack!

James and Church were amazing. Such a wonderful family experience. We all learned how to surf in a morning. Ages 49, 15, and 13. What a Hawaiian experience. Thank you so much. Money well spent.

Casual, friendly, encouraging, and a guarantee that you WILL get up in your first lesson. We are a family of 4, and all of us got up and standing within our first 3 attempts. My 9 yr old son was a little spooked by the waves and the windy day, but the Surf Shack team escorted him on their board, and made sure he had a great experience just the same. My 11 yr old was rocking it with ease from his first push and so was my wife. It took me 3 shots to get up and stable, but by the end of 90 minutes I was comfortable and confident. We all got up and thoroughly enjoyed our first foray into surfing. Thanks Surf Shack!
