Great guide, Sydney (sp?) was fantastic. Very informative, learned a lot about the area and history. The long stop-off for the marching ducks wasn't a big deal for us, had we realized what it was and how soon we'd be back for lunch (just a few more sights before returning to Beale st), we may have opted to skip that and head down to BB kings and have a longer lunch before the boat ride. As it was, we didn't have much time to enjoy the music in the lunch hour provided. The boat ride was good too. There's a cash bar and concession stand on board. 3 decks. We went for the top but in hindsight, 2nd floor would've been better. The guide does his bit from there and it's still open air, but also covered from the sun, which was getting pretty hot up topside. Pick up and drop-off were easy from the downtown hotels (we were at the Sheraton).

Lots of confusion of checking people in. All met at the visitor's center. Nobody seemed to be in charge. Many tours began there, we realized. Supposed to begin at 9, but was 9:30 before we were all sorted and on busses. The driver was interesting. We went to Beal street and was dropped off for lunch. No directions given or information about Beal street. Pretty run down section of town. Probably comes alive at night. Off to the river boat cruise. A bit of a hike down to the boat, and VERY difficult in places to navigate. Loose rocks. Very challenging for people the least unsteady on their feet. Many had to be helped. Surprised that the company hasn't been sued. Boat tour was okay. The narrator was very good. Music played during breaks was way too loud. Couldn't talk to people across the table.
