And, no worries if you’ve never kayaked before; our kayaks are very stable sea kayaks that novices from ages 6 to 90 and beyond can easily paddle with a few simple instructions from your guide.

Your half-day cruise from Key West starts at the Opal Key Resort Head out into the waters of the Key West National Wildlife Refuge, where you'll enjoy a guided kayaking tour through the mangrove habitat and go snorkeling in the clear waters of this protected environment. Your guide provides instruction for kayaking and snorkeling, plus tells you a little about the history of the area. Use of all gear is included, as well as snacks and beverages on board.

I can’t say enough about our experience. Nate was our captain and Derick was our mate. There were three other couples on board. We got some history of Key West, a delightful sail, snorkeling and kayak. Derick cut and served fresh fruit on the sail out. A classy touch. Got in the water with us to point out fish and interesting sea creatures when snorkeling. He also served as our personal tour guide while kayaking in and around the mangroves. Plenty of beer, wine and soda for all. Great wit and humor. Topped off the afternoon with a viewing of the sunset.

We wanted to spend a day with our family of 6 doing something fun together and this hit the nail on the head! Booked online, signed in and headed to the boat with our 'captain'. We were onboard with 12 other guests, 2 mates (Mary & MaryAnne) and the captain. We left the dock with all of us watching them work the sails and start us on our way. Mary brought around fresh fruit and MaryAnne gave some history of Key West (fruit was good and history was interesting!). They brought out blankets because it was a little chilly in the shade and before we knew it there were dolphins swimming alongside the boat! They were very organized when it came to passing out snorkeling gear & wetsuits, as well as helpful for the newbies onboard. It was REALLY windy and chilly, so most of us chose to stay on the boat! Lunch was YUMMY, sandwich meats, cheeses, bread, lettuce, chips, wine & beer that were served on deck. Kayaks were pulled out from below (still not sure how they fit them all in there!) and 2 groups headed towards the mangroves (this mom stayed onboard and curled up for a much needed nap!). It was not as windy in the mangroves and my family said they had a good time paddling around. The crew was efficient and friendly, they made their way around speaking to everyone while we were cruising. It was neat to see them work pulling out food, kayaks, flippers, sails and everything else that they did... kind of made me feel guilty for just watching! We had a really nice time sailing around and spending time together. We would DEFINITELY do this again, either with the whole family or just my hubby and I. We asked to have a picture taken of our family on the boat and they obliged us (it came out SO WELL) and even told me where I could purchase one of the blankets they had on board (it was soft, warm and wonderful!).

First of all, we were upgraded to the full day option because too many people backed out of the half day option. The captain Brian and the first mate Nate were super fun and knowledgable. They really made this trip more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this company and this trip! Can't wait to come back again!
