As a first-time ever hiker, this tour was FABULOUS!! Dylan was just GREAT! Of course, it took me a long time, having never hiked before, but he was wonderful!! He was very knowledgeable and smart and funny and definitely PATIENT!!! He made sure we took lots of breaks and he even helped us in guiding our footsteps once we got to the waterfall site. He could tell you exactly where to put your foot or your butt!! LOL
Once we got to the waterfall, looking down I had the thought, ‘I cannot do this. I'll just stay up here’. But he stayed right with me and got me down the tricky parts. And then having to come back up, that same thought entered my mind, ‘I cannot do this’. (Notice, I said thoughts, because I never let them exit my mouth!!) And he stayed with me again to get me back up those rocks!! Corona virus be damned, I was holding his hand!!! I’m a big girl and he pulled me and braced me with no problem!!!
Back up on the rocks, I was so happy that I had accomplished that feat. And when we finally got all the way back, I was so proud of myself and all that I had done and on my birthday no less!!!
Dylan’s wife Kenzy (?) was great too. They were both very accommodating as I was running late from all the rain and getting lost and my anxiety levels were kind of high. But they were both cool as cucumbers!!
Thank you so much A Walk in the Woods, you made my birthday super happy!!
P.S. The scenery was awesome also!! All the greens and browns and clouds and mountains and rain and trees and turning leaves and just everything!! The peace and quiet was truly soul refreshing! Just what I needed after the year 2020 has been…
P.P.S. They had rain poncho's and snacks but I agree with one of the other reviews, a walking stick would have been great. It's a great workout, especially coming back up, so be prepared for your heart rate to elevate and to sweat. And if it's raining, be prepared to get a little muddy and dirty!! But all in all, you should have a BALL!!!
