The highlight of a two-week trip through Charleston and Savannah! This walking tour was amazing and our guide was phenomenal. The city requires the guide to pass a test but he was obviously personally attached to Charleston and knew more than any test could ask. He would would point out architecture, history, how they were related, how to identify types of buildings from different eras. How a McDonalds heiress owned the entire top floor of a building, how the former mayor just walked past us, up, down, forward, backward, he knew it all, but didn't come across as a know-it all. He really wanted you to understand the history. And, there is so much of it with pre-Revolutionary, Revolutionary War, Civil War and it all overlaps. I took at least 200 photos during the tour. The next day, my wife and I purchased an authentic painting of one of the photos "Rainbow Row" from a local artist, Nancy Davidson, and it now hangs in our kitchen for daily memories.
It seems that many people visit Charleston and Savannah on the same trip so that's why I said this was the best part of our vacation (sorry Savannah-it was close).
