Sea Lions, philanthropists, murderers, fault lines, and awe-inspiring women — we have it all. Our most enthusiastic reviews are from locals, and we guarantee you’ll learn at least 5 new things, even if you grew up here.

All this is punctuated with numerous historic images of the early days.

We cover approximately 3 leisurely miles and walk a total of about 40 stairs (down). We traverse the heart of the village, and the highlights of the coast. There are some hills so if you have concerns or seek more detail feel free to contact us.

The standard tour is neither wheelchair nor stroller accessible, but we can EASILY design a custom tour tailored to your interests and abilities.

We love to present our little seaside hamlet.

Perfect combo of walking and local history. Chas tells a story of the people ( especially Ellen Browning Scripps and her family) and buildings and events of early La Jolla. I especially liked the information on the artist colony that attracted writers and artists to La Jolla. Our tour included the busy Village of La Jolla as well as parts of the beautiful La Jolla Coast Traill Walk. Chas paced the 2 hour tour perfectly and had a tidbit of information for every block. Highly recommend.

As we are new to the community, we wanted to learn more about its history. Chas didn’t disappoint. Walking pace was great, and we covered a lot of territory from the coast to the shopping district. For locals and out of t owners, I highly recommend it as a great way to understand the community and spend a few hours on foot.

We absolutely loved this walking tour of La Jolla. Chas was informative, patient, thorough and knowledgeable of the area. We covered a lot of territory during our tour. We couldn’t have been happier to make efficient use of our afternoon and end up exactly where we requested at an eatery and shopping near our vehicle. It couldn’t have gone better. I’m so happy we chose this tour as it was a great way to familiarize ourselves with the area.
