Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

We had an incredible experience with Captain Jordan and Hoonah Whale Tours! We saw so many whales on our tour and Jordan provided excellent service during the whole time. This was one of the best excursions we have ever taken and could not recommend it more highly! It is great to work with a family owned company that really cares about their customers and provides such personalized service. Thank you Jordan!

Absolutely amazing morning spent on the water with Captain Jordan! We saw so many humpback and orca whales while on an uncrowded, very comfortable boat. Pickup and drop-off from the excursion hub was seamless and we enjoyed meeting the whole Hoonah Whale Tours family during our ride. I would love to give this adventure 10 stars - it was just magnificent!

This was one of the best excursions we’ve been on ever! Jordan met us at the designated time and place and drove us to his boat in the harbor. There was one other couple booked with us so we were a very small group. Jordan was very personable and knowledgeable about the Alaskan waterways. His boat was clean and comfortable (he even supplied homemade muffins, hot chocolate and coffee!). On our way out of the harbor we saw a Sitka black tailed deer and two eagles (one just leaving a huge nest). As we proceeded into the bay we encountered a pod of humpback whales feeding. We followed them for about 2 hours around the bay. We then went to check out some bay otters playing in seaweed and a group of sea lions sunning on a buoy. Jordan and his wife are the sole proprietors of this small tour company I’d highly recommend them to anyone visiting Icy Strait or Hoonah Alaska.
