Not only will you have the opportunity to catch world class fish, but you will be able to do it in the intracoastal as you get a grand tour of urban Fort Lauderdale. Since the fishing takes place in the protected inshore waters you do not have to worry about getting seasick or having to travel far offshore in rough seas. All of our fishing is with light tackle, which makes the experience much more exciting and allows the angler to feel part of the action. Our main species we target are tarpon (sometimes over 100 pounds), snook, jack crevalle, barracuda, and sharks. We mainly fish with live bait, and most of the action is topwater giving the angler a visual experience. Anglers are welcome to hold the rod or use the rod holder until there is a bite depending on how much anglers want to participate.

Thank you, Captain Zach, for a perfect night of fishing on the beautiful intercoastal waterways of Fort Lauderdale. My husband has done a lot of deep sea fishing over the years here in California, and also in Hawaii, and he was very happy with the great fishing experience that you provided! He was impressed with your knowledge of the best spots to find fish, and your boating skills, both of which helped him catch a jack crevalle and a snook... the two things he was hoping to catch while in Florida. : ) And even though there was a sewage spill in the area that affected the conditions, you knew just how to adjust for that. As for me, I was just enjoying the ride, the sights, and the conversation as I know next to nothing about fishing! I was just along for the ride, without any expectations, and it ended up being a major highlight of our stay for both me and the hubs. If you are considering a charter with Captain Zach, don't hesitate to book with this knowledgeable, kind, and personable young man. And if I had a single daughter his age, I would definitely introduce them. ; )

My 13th trip with Captain Slip, AKA, Captain Zach Routman, began on an auspicious note when he arrived at the dock with a livewell full of freshly caught Mullet. Fishing with Zach during the annual Mullet Run migration is like being with a Zen Fighterpilot in combat. "Caught, Not Bought" the man says. Hurricane Dorian notably jumpstarted the event this year. "In Mullet We Trust," (stoically emblazoned in a font a local brewery would use on his "uniform") reminded me he was serious about two things: finesse fishing + using his local knowledge of the surrounding fisheries to catch more of 'em. I guarantee you that Zach knows more about his local ecosystem than fishermen twice his age. Plus, Zach always has a plan. Likewise, on this last trip, he then proceeded to put my 5 year old son on his first two Jack Crevalle, who both pulled like mules at the Mullet rodeo. Before leaving the intracoastal one of our Mullet was surgically halved by a nice Cuda which provided some topwater drama. Moving on we saw plenty of bait "showering" as they were being chased by local predators from above and below. As the evening went on, Zach answered our wish to catch a shark, hooking us up with a Bull, almost hand-picked in size to impress a 42 year old, but not scare a 5 year old. Getting a 5 star review is difficult. But Z makes it easy because he knows when to assist the client and fellow fisherman, even kids, or to let them fight alone, only coaching when needed. Slip almost always knows what the fish is thinking, and can help predict how they'll fight, allowing you to ultimately put more fish in the boat (or next to the boat in the case of my first 125 lb+ Tarpon.) He directs the symphony as you fight the fish, while also skillfully navigating and maneuvering the boat in a safe and professional manner. Zach knows when to chase a fish and when to back off, knowing what you need to better fight the fish before you ask. As usual, the night did not end until one felt as if we had successfully and strategically hit as many local spots possible as the tide, sun, then lack of sun, and wind would allow. Obviously I trust someone who can catch their own bait and then consistently put you on the biggest fish of your life; from Tarpon, Snook, Jacks, and Sharks inshore, to Sails and Mahi when it's flat offshore, Zach has put me and several of my friends on massive, quality fish. If you're serious about chasing fish in Southeast Florida, you'd regret not booking a trip with Slip - while also seeing Fort Lauderdale from another angle on the water. Whether you're a lone fisherman, a couple, or a parent with kids, you're sure to have a good time. Zach has proven over the years he's such a capable guide, it's not overstatting to say you'll want to book another trip before your first one ends.

As a south Floridian and avid lake fisherman I thought I knew what to expect on my first charter with Zach; boy was I pleasantly surprised. Zach is a native Floridian and knows the winding water ways of Fort Lauderdale like the back of his hand. Zach is very good at keeping you involved on the boat, either telling you about which bait, line, and normal conditions for that time of year. The trip is honestly as informative as it is sport. There are no awkward intermissions; what really impressed me was his preparedness, Zach is willing to adapt his technique for whatever the angler prefers. Whether you wish to fish deep sea or intercostals, the experience is very customizable. I’m glad to be a repeat customer with NoDoubt Charterz.
