Our instructor was great. She certainly teaches you how to use the e-bike well, and the e-bike was cool! However, if you haven’t ridden a bike in a while, are over 50, and never rode an e-bike, it’s a bit of a shock, as it’s really heavy and you need to really focus on keeping it straight and not have the front end wobble as you drive. Other folks seemed to be getting the hang of it, but you’re being taught how to use the bike in a VERy busy parking lot with busses, cars, big trucks zipping by. Needless to say, it was nerve-wracking. I struggled to get the hang of it and just couldn’t control the bike. I fell a few times BANG on the pavement and and it wasn’t pretty, LOL. Make sure you are already very comfortable riding a bike you don’t know well, that is heavy all over but the steering was what got me the most. I couldn’t control the front end well and wasn’t going to try again and again with all of parking lot traffic. After falling and crashing into a parked truck as I couldn’t steer the darn thing to stop, I had had enough. After reading how easy it was and how people of all ages can enjoy this experience making the trip “easy” for me, it wasn’t, Especially in a really busy parking lot with tour busses and cars zipping around to find parking. Believe me, the parking lot was awful to try to learn this thing. Definitely not for a person that hasn’t ridden a bike in 2 years that has strength and balance issues that make it hard to keep control of this Heavy bike—-it’s not like your cruising bike at home—remember, it has a it has an engine/motor and battery on it that isn’t what regular bikes have. I can’t blame it all on the bike, I was rusty. I just have ridden a bike since I was 5 and I’m now 53, and just wasn’t feeling safe to do my test run with tour busses and cars all over the place. I just couldn’t stop the thing in time and to avoid a tour bus that was cutting the same corner as I, so I chose to stop and that’s when I crashed HARD. I gave up after that as I was lucky it hadn’t been worse. Be a confident rider of mountain bikes and can handle a 50-60 pound bike. I’m sure it’s a lovely experience for most, especially stronger folks confident on a big bike. They don’t offer a refund if you can’t get the hang of it and are injured and tired of crashing, LOL! It’s a lot of $$ to lose.
