Big Morongo Canyon Preserve
Nestled among the Little San Bernardino Mountains in the Sand to Snow National Monument, the desert oasis at Big Morongo Canyon is one of the 10 largest cottonwood and willow riparian habitats in California. The upstream end of the canyon lies in the Mojave Desert, while its downstream portion opens into the Colorado Desert. There are numerous trails to walk and hike, including a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk through the marsh and riparian habitats. At 31,000 acres with elevations ranging from 600 feet on the canyon floor to 3000 feet at the top of the ridge, this diverse landscape has been an important part of the Morongo Basin’s natural and cultural history for almost two billion years.

Our guide Scott was beyond knowledgeable on the terrain, geography, and natural setting of the park. While i learned much it was dictated in a classroom type speech. The views and scenery are well worth it. The highlight was the hummer trip up to one of th highest peaks in the park near sunset.

My girlfriends and I selected this tour while on a short girls trip to Palm Desert. We wanted to see and do a variety of things while in the area and this definitely hit the mark. It was fun traveling through the park in the hummer and we learned so much about the history of the area, the park and the Joshua tree. There are many amazing photo opportunities along the way. Patrick was most informative and wanted us to enjoy our experience! Just be sure to allot a full half day for the entire tour and you'll have a great time.

My wife and I traveled out to Palm Springs without a car, and had no idea how we were going to visit Joshua Tree. Turns out, this is the best way to do it, car or not. Having a guide (we had Louis, my namesake, and also incredibly knowledgeable and fun) show us all the spots we'd have missed driving out there ourselves was ideal. Being shown all the backroads and hidden spots was fantastic. Plus, what a way to travel, the Hummer is a LOT of fun. Would recommend this to anyone visiting the area.
