We bought tickets the night before since we weren't sure of dates and that went fine since we were before "official" tour season. They have free parking with a complimentary shuttle to the office, though on a nice day it would be a pleasant walk through shops with one big road crossing. The office staff were quite pleasant. The weather was drizzly-rain and the waves were quite high. Going out was alright, but the weather turned while we were out and grew quite rough coming back. The captain appeared to alter our course to try and help minimize the open water time. Many people became seasick and the crew handled taking care of them and getting them resettled amazingly. I found if I stood leaning against my seat, I was fine (sitting, I had started to feel nauseous). This led to the best boat roller coaster up/down ride. It was exhilarating! I crossed many species off my animal bingo list. Despite fighting the waves, I think the captain did a wonderful job balancing the desire of people to see the wildlife with the increasing number of the seasick. We saw lots of bird life including tufted puffins, an orca pod, several humpbacks (one breached for us!), sea lions, and seals. Oh, and there was a glacier and the captain pointed out various interesting historical and natural history points along the way.

We had such a great time and great food too! Saw all the wildlife, humpback whales, orcas, sea otters, eagles, seals, etc. Wow we just couldn't get enough. The pictures in the ad were the real deal. I recommend this 100%

I always worry about going on guided tours because it can be hard to see, the crowds can be pushy and make it difficult to enjoy, but that was not the case with Kenai Fjords Tours. Everything was well organized with a simple check in process. The boat was not overcrowded and it was easy to see from inside the cabins or from the deck. We were lucky that it wasn't rainy or worse, but we were prepared with plenty of layers and waterproof jackets. They came in handy, especially when the boat encountered very rough waters and it was easier to keep the sea sickness at bay while standing on the deck in the cold, wet air. We saw so many animals and the scenery was simply breathtaking. The highlight was observing a beautiful blue glacier in an icy, foggy, otherworldly cove. Besides the amazing sights, the crew made the trip special. They were very attentive and patient, helping passengers who were seasick with kindness and care and engaging others in friendly conversation. As I stood outside enjoying the scenery, a crew member rushed out to help an elderly gentleman walk along the deck until he got his bearings. I was impressed with his gesture. This was a well run operation that resulted in a memory-making experience for me and my family.
