Key West Ghost and Mysteries Tour
Check-in for the ghost tour is no later than 8:45 at the corner of Duval and Caroline Street in front of the Porter Mansion on the Duval Street side. There is a small booth just at the entrance to the property, at the beginning of the 300 block of Duval Street, and that is where you will do your check-in. At 9pm the guide will depart and walk you down Rose Lane for an introduction to the tour which includes some Key West history, terminology used when talking about different spirit sightings, instructions on how to take pictures, and general guidelines. Key West is Florida's second oldest city and one of the most haunted locations in the country. From Rose Lane you will walk to the end of the block stopping at the Casa Antigua, Ernest Hemingway's first Key West residence where he fell in love with Key West and wrote "A Farewell to Arms". You will hear what happened in this interesting building and the ghostly story about The Watcher. The tour then moves up to Eaton Street to the Artist House where you will hear the story of the creepy, Robert the Doll and see where he used to live. Next the tour moves to Bahama Street where the oldest graveyard is located in back of Saint Paul's Church. You are invited to use the dowsing rods at this point to try to engage spirit activity. Just past the graveyard is the Dean-Lopez Funeral Home. This stop is where the strange tale of Count Von Cosel and Elana is related. This story is stranger than fiction, but it's all true and documented. You now will wind back around to the La Concha Hotel and hear what happened at the tallest building in Key West. It's a ghostly tale, but not what you probably think. Next the tour moves to the Oldest House and Gardens to explore the grounds at the back of the house, and hear stories about the family who lived here and learn about the many ghostly sightings. This is the most active location on the tour and many guests get pictures on their cameras. Finally, the tour moves inside to hear the chilling tale of a prominent Key West family at their former residence. As the tour concludes, there is time for stories and picture sharing. The tour is interactive and questions are encouraged. The tour ends at 10:30 across the street from where it started.

Had a great time on this tour. Ted was an excellent storyteller and we all very much enjoyed it. Visited some cool places and loved exploring the haunted side of Key West. I have been on a lot of ghost tours -but this was one of the most interesting.Spooky evening!

I love ghost tours. My husband & I did one in Charleston & Williamsburg. We chose the walking tour over the trolley because Veronica C. Who sold us the ticket, said we would be going inside haunted houses unlike the trolley that drove by. All Ted did was show us other people's pics of ghost captures on film& instructed us to take 2 pics of everything. Then we played with keys. Then holding a rod that the ghost moved for answers. One story had nothing to do with ghosts No scarey homes. Just parking lots. Boring boring! When I asked when we were going inside a house he said only in Hard Rock Cafe where my husband & I'd had lunch earlier. We left. Driving back through the small dark streets of Key West was scarier.

Thank You for joining us on the tour! I'm sorry that it did not live up to your expectations. I have spoken with our reservation team and have made the changes in their presentation of our tour. We do go into the garden of the oldest house, and upstairs of the Hard Rock at the end of the tour, many of the other sites are now B&B's and therefore not accessible on a nightly basis. But I do appreciate your input as we constantly strive to improve our performance, Each night is unique, which keeps it fun and interesting for us as well as our guests! ,

Let me start by saying I love ghost tours. I go on them in every city I visit so of course we asked for recommendations to a great one in key west and we were lead to ghosts and mysteries with Ted. The reason I love ghost tours is because I'm a history enthusiast. I love hearing about the atrocities that happened and the crazy people behind them. So of course when Ted began taking about a confederate navy captain during the civil war living in key west I quickly asked, but wasn't key west part of the Union? He rudely said yes. When I asked for more detail, like then what was he doing living in key west? He just stared at me. As did everyone else in the group. I was instantly embarrassed. But I was also angry because I quickly realized this guy knows very little about the history behind the characters In his ghost stories. He spent more time trying to convince us ghosts were there with us using ridiculous tools than spending time telling stories, explaining history and generally welcoming the curiosity of the group. I'm on a ghost your, I don't need convincing that ghosts are real. Our whole group, some having been on ghost tours in charleston, savannah, and New Orleans left disappointed. I left angry. My friends looked at me and said next time were planning the ghost tour. It was that bad.

Thank You for joining us on the Tour! I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed, but also think there may just have been a misunderstanding. We do discuss any comments from our guests in an effort to improve our tours. Just for clarification, The capt did reside in the oldest house, but joined the confederate navy and was stationed elsewhere for the duration of the war. Then he returned to Key West. Ted does know the history of Key West and is very familiar with each site we visit. If in any way you felt slighted or uncomfortable with the response to your question, I do apologize. We encourage our audience to ask questions and truly make it an interactive tour. As for the tools we use on the tour, The dowsing rods and such actually give guests an opportunity to experience the moment and are very popular! Sorry if we did not meet your expectations, but we do the best we can....and will continue to do so! Thanks for your input and enjoy your next visit to Key West!
