I attended the Las Vegas ghost tour on Sunday, December 6th. I was very disappointed with the experience. We arrived on time and at the specific location that was provided in the reminder email. They had a new trainee also show up at the location with us. It was a few minutes after 8 and we did not see the tour guide. I tried calling the contact number listed on the reminder email ((702) 805-4682), but it was disconnected. Soon after I did receive a call from the tour guide and provided us the correct location to go to.
Once we did see the tour guide, he was not dressed professionally. He started the tour and it was hard to hear him most of the time. This was due to outdoor music and cars passing by. He also was walking very quickly... so fast that we actually lost part of the group. We did not see them again the whole tour. Later during the tour, my group was separated because the crosswalk light had changed in the middle of our walk to the next location. The tour guide did not turn around to make sure everyone made it across and kept walking. We had to yell for him to come back since he was so far down the walkway. Because of how fast the tour guide was moving, it felt like he had somewhere else to be. When we did stop, he'd frequently have us stand in the middle of the sidewalk where people were walking between hotels on the Strip.
He was not a great story teller and frequently forgot the last names of people in the story. It sounded like he had just read a script a few minutes beforehand and then presented it off of memory. It did not sound like he was prepared at all. When we asked questions he either didn't know the answer or gave an answer that sounded made up. The trainee seemed to know more than him about the history. For example - the tour guide spoke about Madam Tousou in the Venetian being haunted. He said it used to be a club where mobsters would hang out. There was no discussion on how the Sands Hotel used to be where the Venetian is now located... so it was confusing to follow or understand why it would be haunted if the Venetian is a rather new hotel. The trainee seemed to have had enough of the unprofessional presentation and left half way into the tour.
I had booked the Add-On to the ghost tour for my group. All that consisted of was walking further up the Strip, pointing to 3 hotels, telling more stories that sounded half baked, and then closing out the tour.
We did several other tours while in Las Vegas and had great experiences with those businesses. I really do enjoy learning the history and haunting in the cities I visit. I have been to multiple ghost and history tours in San Antonio, Austin, New Orleans, Omaha, and Denver and this has been the most disappointing one. At many points during this ghost tour I was considering just abandoning it altogether. It was a waste of my group's time and money. It was not a great experience.
