This trip is so worth it. Mitch was professional and so knowledgeable about everything Maua Kea! The sunset and stargazing were amazing!

If you wear tights or leggings under jeans and wear rain pants over those to keep out the wind you’ll be fine. The long stadium coats are awesome! I also brought a stocking cap and wore hiking boots. The star gazing was amazing and Zach did a great job!

Well coordinated tour from pickup shuttle to mountain climbing van with nice educational narrative o long the way. Made it up to the visitor center on our first tour attempt but the rangers were going to be closing the road to summit due to weather predictions. Easy to get fulll refund from TripAdvisor. Decided to reschedule the same tour few days later and did get up to summit. Jackets provided were awesome and definitely needed. Sunset beautiful. (One of us did experience some altitude sickness. Our guides provided excellent management skills.) The stargazing part was a bit disappointing partly due to bright full moon. The very knowledgeable tour guides made the best of it but seeing the constellations was very difficult. Two views from telescope provided & nice … a bit perplexed because we thought we were going to see the “lifecycle of stars”. Overall, we were glad we included this tour in our trip!
