Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park

Your guide would take you to see the beautiful iconic buttes, spires and mesas that have made Monument Valley famous on part of the 17 mile loop drive. We would then go to the back country restricted areas of the Tribal Park to stand beneath the natural arches, amp theaters and get right up close to the Anasazi petroglyphs. Our guides are so kind and would explain the traditional meanings of each location, history, and culture while answering any question that you might think of. Navajo Spirit Tours does not shy away from some of the spiritual topics that you might not hear about on a regular day. We do try our best in the short amount of time that we have with each of our guests to teach as much as we can while you are here. We do look forward to meeting you!

My husband and I took both the day tour and the sunset tour. The best part of the tour was our guide, Will Cowboy. He not only gave us a tour, he also opened our eyes to the Navajo culture and tradition, and the misconceptions we have seen in movies and TV shows. He sang two traditional songs and told us some personal stories. There are many Monument Valley Tours but this is the one you must choose! Will is truly a spirit guide.

Monument Valley was the last stop on our long road trip through CO, UT, and northern AZ. It also happened to be our ten year wedding anniversary. We booked a stay at The View (also amazing and reviewed separately) and were thrilled to find out the Navajo Nation was reopening two weeks before our stay and allowing tours at 50% capacity. We immediately booked with Navajo Spirit for a 3 hour, backcountry tour at 1 PM. Please note if coming from elsewhere in AZ in the summer that the Navajo Nation is one hour ahead of other places in AZ like Page or Grand Canyon. From the moment I started email communication with Miesha, she was very responsive and answered all my questions promptly. Our tour guide was Don and he was absolutely amazing! He was waiting for us when we arrived at the Welcome Center. There is only a max of 6 people on the tour; it ended up just being four of us - my husband and me and a mother/daughter duo who were a lot of fun. I can't say enough kind things about Don. He is definitely a natural storyteller and teacher. We were captivated from the moment we stepped on the truck to the moment we got off by his stories, his songs, his humor, the history he shared with us, and also all the awesome places he showed us to get cool photos! Monument Valley is absolutely stunning. If you visit, you definitely should take a tour to get out in the backcountry where otherwise you can't go. We also were able to get a weaving demonstration from a Navajo woman and visit some hogans. I recommend taking the open-air truck rather than the enclosed vehicle because you can see SO much more from being in the open-air truck. It was hot the day we went, but we stayed cool with the cover over the truck and the wind when you are driving. It is a bumpy ride but also a fun one. I would do this tour again and again (and the other tours Navajo Spirit offers). And I plan to when I eventually make it back to this magical place called Monument Valley. It is such a privilege to get to see this land. My thanks and gratitude to the Navajo people for sharing this with us.

In Summer 2017 I did an amazing overnight tour with my wife led by John, the nicest person I met in my entire stay in US. It was an experience I will always remember. The sight of the monument valley from Hunt’s Mesa is unique. Everything worked perfectly, the trip through the rocks was an adventure and we also had the opportunity to see some historical spots (like a village carved in the stone). I had the opportunity to learn more about Navajo history and culture, hear their music and stories, and this was the personal connection that made my whole experience unique. Moreover, I will always remember the silence and the distant storm and thunders on the monuments at the horizon. I recommend to have a good camera with you to capture that moments forever. But my memory keeps those moments as one of the most terrific of my life.
