There are lots of tours available; we took Trip Advisor rated Monument Valley Safari Tours, and I can't believe any others were better. Our Tour Guide, Bobby, sounded like a geologist in that he knows his geology of the area and gave us quite a history lesson of the formations. He also enhanced the tour with insights into Navajo culture and traditions. The ride was in a very comfortable, open-air vehicle that Bobby drove carefully to avoid potential bumps and the every-present dust. Some folks, driving themselves got stuck in some sand area; we avoided any delays and our 2 1/2 hour tour was terrific! When you travel with a Navajo guide, you also go to areas restricted to tourists on their own.
