Due to some unforeseen situations we ended up with an extra day in Mystic...to our pleasure! We visited the Seaport Museum, the cost was about $25 per person and the beautiful book you receive when you leave is worth the price in and of itself. We were able to take the harbor cruise included with the cost of admission which was full of information. TheHB Dupont shipyard was interesting and very educational. Many of the exhibits were open to view, there were a few that were still closed. We were fortunate to have an absolutely beautiful day. Note to self, park down at the South. entrance and start there. We parked in the North entrance and went through the exhibition hall and went backwards unknowingly. They were offering 3 days for the price of admission so you could return on multiple days. You could also take out row boats or sail boats for 30 minutes free of charge. We followed this with a trip to the aquarium in the afternoon. For the price, this is DEFINITELY the better deal!

It's a GREAT time for couples, friends, and families to enjoy the COVID-SAFE environment of the Mystic Seaport Museum. Masks and social distancing are required, and facilities are frequently sanitized. Due to reduced staff pursuant to the pandemic, tickets have been reduced to half-price notwithstanding many exhibits and activities offered . Tickets include: 1) 25 minute narrated cruise on the Mystic River aboard the WWII Navy launch, "Liberty," (Note: limited capacity, get time slot early). 2) Free planetarium show, 3) Free gift (hardback maritime book). 3) Access to three historic ships: Charles Morgan, 1841 whaling ship; Joseph Conrad, 1882 training ship; and L.A. Dunton, 20th Century New England fishing ship. 4) Thompson Exhibition Building exhibit: "A Way with Wood." Shipwrights and wood carvers demonstrate yesteryear boat building. 5) Second day access when used within three days of ticket purchase. 6) The Discovery Barn offers outdoor activities for children featuring 19th Century games. (Note: games are sanitized after each use.) Dean Hantzopoulos was staff member on duty; he issued and demonstrated games for children of all ages. 7) Boat House: Free use of wood rowboats, sailboats, and a paddle boat without time limit. Catboat ride on "Breck Marshall" for nominal $8.00 fee. 8) "Amistad Slave Ship": Adwoa Bandele-Asante, Discovery Amistad docent delivers a comprehensive discussion of the 1839 mutiny and escape to freedom of 43 captured slaves. Be sure to reserve time for a leisurely walk, camera in hand, around the Circa 1870's Maritime Village; enjoy the classic architecture of historic buildings and the beautiful landscaping provided by Steve Sisk and his team of volunteers. I strongly recommend becoming a member for anyone within driving distance. As a member with "Grandparent +," I have unlimited year-round access to include entry for all grandchildren and one adult guest. See you on the Mystic Seaport Museum campus.
