PLEASE NOTE that visibility of the northern lights (aurora) is not guaranteed. It is a natural phenomenon we have no control over and no refunds will be given if the aurora cannot be seen.

There are no restroom facilities available
The road to Murphy Dome is steep and if it is not plowed or is too icy and dangerous we will take customers to an alternative location that provides the same opportunity to see the aurora.

We went one night and saw spectacular views of the northern lights. The people were very helpful there. Make sure you have a good camera and that you know how to use it properly. Don't rely on a mobile phone camera, they are usually not good enough to capture anything of the lights.

We drove for a good distance out of town to find the dark skies but finally parked below a cell tower that had 3 bright red lights. With the longer exposures for the aurora the snow appeared bright red. When he parked the van he made the effort to back in so when I asked the direction to look for the aurora he said it would be behind us. Not sure why he would park so the action would be to our back. Around 2:30 AM we were all packed up and ready to leave when the aurora displayed a very beautiful band of color. Too bad it was directly behind the cell tower! At one point some other people walked out in our field of view to set up taking their pictures. I mentioned that to our guide and he basically told me to just deal with it. I walked out to those guys and politely explained to them and the immediately pulled back in line to set up. The tour description said there would be snacks and drinks. None were offered to me. When we started back down I asked if there was any water and our guide offered the bottle he had frozen to keep in his cooler. Fortunately for me it was thawed ... All I can say about this tour is we did see the aurora and he did get us safely there and back. I'll add a photo after posting but basically I didn't use anything I captured from this tour because of the red snow.

We are so sorry that you did not have a great night. We did talk to this mentioned guide right after the tour and this will not happen again. We are so sorry and hope you had a great overall visit to Fairbanks.

Perfect trip since we saw a spectacular northern lights show. The driver said we hit it just right evidently the past few nights were not good for viewing. The driver was excellent....he had a lot of Alaskan experience and had a ton of really cool stories. Excellent knowledge of Murphy Dome. We also so saw some Moose. Plus if you don't have a lot of time in Fairbanks this 4 to 5 hour tour works perfect....versus the 14 hour tour I am going on today up to the Arctic circle....can't wait..
