While the tour guide was a nice guy this is a dangerous activity.
First, we were originally told the tour began and ended at Columbia Circle but fortunately we checked emails and discovered we had to go to their store down the block. Easy to find, no big deal.
We received no safety or usage information regarding the e scooters from the time we checked in. Helmets were optional and “provided” which means they were tossed into a bin as people finished their tours with no cleaning or sanitizing in between people. We had to search through the pile for 5 minutes just trying to find a helmet that had all of the parts to them.
Finally our group assembled out front and pushed our scooters down the block and Across the street to the park.
We were told this is the gas, this is the break and off we went. We were in a group with kids and most had never been on an e scooter before. It was also a busy Sunday in the park. The guide was off like a shot. He stayed so far ahead that we only saw him when he stopped to point something out. Those of us who had never ridden before were forced to drive them up to 25 mph through busy pedestrian and bicycle traffic just to keep up and not get lost.
After a big curve one of the teen girls crashed her scooter in the middle of the road. When her mother saw her crash she slammed on her breaks and crashed as well taking a very hard fall over her handlebars. It was very scarey. Both of them were left with bloody palms and the Mother was very shaken resulting in 911 being called. Again, the guide was a nice guy but was completely unprepared for any emergency. There was no first aid kit or bandages. Focus from the company was immediately placed on how to get their scooters back to the store.
We completely understood the delay in our tour because of the accident and we wanted the injured folks to get assistance. However, once they were taken care of our tour abruptly ended and we were rushed back to the store. To stay in schedule I guess but I do t think we saw everything we were supposed to.
In closing this is a dangerous activity for beginners and for children. We do not recommend.
