The Main Museum on 5th Ave. Is normally open: 10AM – 5PM Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 10AM – 9PM Friday and Saturday
The Met Cloisters in uptown are normally open 10AM – 5PM
The pre-orientation experience option is shown as 2 hours long. It includes the 30-minute pre-orientation experience and then self-guided time in the Museum. You can off course spend longer than 90 minutes in the Museum if you want, but this is the minimum amount of time you should allow.

Alex was an incredible tour guide! I’d been to the Met several times before and yet Alex showed us sections I didn’t even know existed! Worth every penny! Also, Alex’s vast knowledge and passion for art is infectious! Wonderful tour

I purchased the tour ticket and it got canceled. Viator only gave me back 12 dollars. It was canceled by the museum but Viator didn’t help. The museum called me directly and we took care of it. It was very confusing and unorganized.

Guide was pleasant but disorganised and we felt was scant on information about the museum, its history and contents.

You purchased an orientation self guided activity. I appreciate you feel the guide was not as knowledgable as you wish but you did not have a full tour nor a guide that is there to do a full tour. I invite you to purchase a full experience not just an orientation and you will have an incredible tour guide that is well versed with the museum.
