The actual observatory views and experience are incredible. No doubt and anytime someone visits us from out of town, we take them there even if we've been several times ourselves.
MY post is about the concessions.. Last night we were there and I purchased a can of beer. Wanted to chill on a bench and watch the sunset.
$13.00 for a can of beer. $13....
Luckily a visitor that was leaving gave me one of their $15 coupons that come with certain packages. So I didn't have to pay the whole tab for it. But if I didn't?
I ran restaurants for 30 years. I know what a can of beer costs a restaurant or business. It was probably less but let's say the can cost them $1.50.
The retail price of $13 is basically a 850% markup. Are you serious?
Souvenirs like t-shirts, keychains, etc I get....its something you get to keep as a memory of your trip. But concession pricing in NYC are OUT OF CONTROL.
