The Original Sea Cave Kayak Tour (90 Minutes in Length) offers unforgettable guided tours through the La Jolla Ecological Reserve. Each tour is lead by experienced guide(s) who ensure participants safely navigate through the unique ecological habitats while seeing different types of marine life.

This highly-protected and unique area boasts one of the highest concentrations of sea-life in the West Coast. Guests commonly encounter seals, sea lions, and a multitude of birds and fish, and lucky guests might even see dolphins or whales!

Towards the southern end of the Ecological Reserve, La Jolla's Seven Sea Caves patiently await, allowing participants to witness their beauty. Weather permitting, participants can kayak through the large sea cave that goes from the ocean into the Emerald Cove.
Entry into the Emerald Cave depends on the safety, and is not guaranteed. Participants must be five years or older to participate in the tour.

Valid for up to two people to ride in a double kayak.

My husband and I did the Kayak for Two tour and enjoyed it, for the most part. It was more challenging staying upright in the kayak than we thought it’d be. We had kayaked on lakes before, but never in the ocean with all the waves. We got very sea sick and capsized a few times.However, we loved hearing about the history and stories of the area, seeing the leopard sharks swimming beneath us, kayaking in the caves, and watching the sea lions. We really enjoyed our tour guides CJ and Caleigh. We especially appreciated Caleigh for giving us ginger candies to help with the motion sickness and helping us when our kayak capsized. She was very kind and helpful. If I were to do this tour again, I would make sure to take some sort of motion sickness pills beforehand and I think I’d opt for single kayaks instead of the doubles for easier maneuvering.

The ocean can be unpredictable, some days you'll just get splashed a little and others you'll get soaked. We loved our trip! It was a lot of kayaking though....it was very cool and an amazing experience. I would recommend bringing a change of clothes...we did not and were soaked the rest of the car ride....that was our fault. It was a $5.00 locker rental, and I'd recommend you use that.

KJ was a great guide! We saw dolphins, leopard sharks, and sea lions. The cove is beautiful and the experience was excellent. Highly recommend!!
